Frequently asked questions

Buying, warranty, care, shipping: answers to the questions we hear most often. Can't find yours? Write to us, we reply quickly.

Buying a boat or a sled

Where can I buy a SCOTT canoe, an IMPEX kayak or a Labrador sled?

Our boats and sleds are sold exclusively through our network of authorized retailers in Canada. See the retailer map to find the one nearest you.

How does the online quote work?

On each product page, you choose the material, colour and options, then send the request. The quote is for reference only: the official order is then placed directly with the retailer in your area.

What is the difference between your canoe series?

The Expedition series (Prospector 15', 16' and 17') is built for multi-day trips with portages. The Classic series (Wilderness, Tripper, Two Rivers) focuses on stability and space for families. The Recreational series (Echo) puts lightness first for short outings. For fishing with a motor, see our fishing boats. Our boat finder guides you in a few questions.

Fibreglass or Kevlar: which one should I choose?

Fibreglass is tough, easy to repair and more affordable. Kevlar is 5 to 7 pounds lighter depending on the model, a real advantage if you portage often. It is all explained in our guide Kevlar or fibreglass.

Can I customize my canoe?

Yes. Besides the choice of colour and trim, we offer several graphic designs and custom work. See our Custom design page.

Which sled should I choose for ice fishing?

For a day of ice fishing, the TE (6 ft, 53 lb) is the most popular. For the camp and hunting, the TG or the TGX offer nearly 9 feet of cargo space. Our sled guide compares all six models.

Warranty

What warranty do your products have?

Our canoes, kayaks and fishing boats are covered by a 5-year limited warranty against manufacturing defects. Labrador sleds are covered for 2 years against manufacturing defects, such as delamination or blisters in the gelcoat. In the event of a defect, we repair or replace the product at our discretion.

How do I register my warranty?

Go to our Warranty page and fill out the registration form. Keep your boat's serial number handy.

What is not covered by the warranty?

Improper transport, improper storage, commercial or unusual use (for example towing behind a motorboat or an excessive load) void the warranty. If your boat breaks because of misuse, we can repair it at a reasonable price, with a quote before any work.

How do I make a claim?

Write to us with your boat's serial number and photos of the problem. We will assess the situation and tell you what to do next. Transport to the retailer where you bought your boat is at your expense.

Care and repair

How do I care for and store my canoe?

Rinse it with fresh water, let it dry completely and store it upside down on two supports, out of the sun. Once a year, oil the ash parts. All the details are in our guide Storing your canoe for the winter and in the owner's manual.

My canoe is scratched or chipped. What should I do?

Small scratches are touched up with our gelcoat paint with hardener, available in our canoe colours. For bigger damage, go to an authorized repair centre or see our Repairs and advice page.

What is the protective coating?

It is a reinforced layer applied to the hull that resists abrasion better where it rubs the most. It is available as an option, ideal for rocky rivers and frequent landings. More details on our Protective coatings page.

Where can I find replacement parts?

Seats, portage yokes, handles, decals and sled parts can be ordered directly on the site, in the Parts and accessories section.

Online orders, shipping and returns

Do you ship across Canada?

Yes. Parts, accessories and apparel ordered on the site ship anywhere in Canada. Exact delivery times and costs are shown at checkout. See our shipping policy.

Can I return an item?

Parts, accessories and apparel bought on the site can be returned or exchanged within 14 days of receipt, if unused and in their original packaging. Boats and sleds are handled case by case. See our return policy.
